I've seen that salmon/pancake dish, but haven't made it yet. The donut French toast recipe comes from Nigella Express, and I'd had the book for a while but wasn't inspired to make until I watched Nigella make it on the DVD.

Yum yum. Nigella’s Doughnut French Toast with Strawberry Sauce – Valentine Day Special. Heat 15ml (1 tbsp) oil and 15ml (1 tbsp) butter in a frying pan.

Heat a pan with butter and when it is hot add this bread in that..Cook till golden on both sides.

Turn up the heat, then add the soaked slices to the frying pan and cook for 1 minute each side, so that their egg-soaked surfaces are golden, and browned in part. Add icing sugar and lemon juice(if using) in that and blend it into a fine puree.

Meanwhile, soak the remaining 4 slices in the egg mixture for their 1 minute a side. In the normal run of things, you'd use up old stale bread, but that is not how I roll.Then you dip the bread in the eggs, letting it sit for a good few minutes on each side so that it really soaks up the vanilla-scented eggy batter.Then it is simply a matter of frying the bread. sandie, Very tasty. You have to cook the bread on a low heat so that it cooks all the way through without burning, and as such, it soaks up a LOT of butter. That looks like something i would want to wake up to..Yum!
