IITM BI connects to the faculty members of various departments of IITM for technical mentoring. Depending on the domain expertise of the mentor and the requirement of the company, one or two mentors are allocated to the company. These mentors meet with the company regularly and give their inputs. In association with the IITM Alumni Association's Entrepreneurship Forum, IITM Incubation Cell (IITMIC) provides business mentorship from IITM Alumni. These Mentoring Clinics are organized every month. There is also a VC-in-house to offer advice related to business and financial matters.
This is offered by IITMIC in areas of legal, accounting and company secretaryship. This can also include IPR services like patent mapping and patent applications.Incubatees can avail these services on a shared basis or on a need basis.
IITM BI offers seed funding through the BIRAC SEED Fund to incubated companies. Incubatees can also access funding directly from IITMIC and other venture capitalists through IITMIC.
A vast network of researchers, faculty, businessmen, industrialists, alumni, venture capitalists, governmental agencies and other service providers can be tapped into via the Bio-Incubator.
IITM BI conduct regular workshops, seminars and lectures in specific areas of biotechnology and entrepreneurship. These will be open to students, industry personnel and incubatees. Some of these will also act as a 'Finishing School" for students completing their degrees.
